Winter Woods 3 infinity scarf
I am skiing every day if there is snow, evenings are for working. I see so many colors in the winter woods, bright paprika orange and chartreuse patches of lichen, all shades of brown taupe and silvery grey. Rusty branches and pale blue skies. I sometimes see the same family of deer. There are moose, fox, wild boar, and rabbit tracks criss crossing, and sometimes using the same trails that I am.
I am bringing the magic of the woods to you. Breathe deeply, stay still for a moment, meditate on the amazing colors you see and relax your mind.
When I was a teenager, I had an embroidered dress and shirt from Guatemala. Each had a small bit of embroidery finished in a completely different color. I assumed that they ran out of thread until I learned that there are many cultures world wide that follow the principal; only God is perfect, so you add a bit of human imperfection to not insult but honor that.
When I was a knitwear designer for Christine Foley Knitwear in San Francisco, I always had to add one of these “mistakes” to my work. I am now living in such a beautiful, spiritually inspiring place, that I thought it would be a good thing to return to that ages old tradition. My knits will now have a bit of stray yarn lint thrown in. If you happen to see it, realize you are perfect just the way you are, and smile.
I blend these colors with two strands of soft fluffy kid mohair and two strands of silk. This wrap has just a touch of lurex starlight knit in. I hand pick the kid mohair in Istanbul to ensure quality.
If you want to see more photos of my nature knits just like me at:
*Shoulder shrug: the label goes on the inside in back, facing up, just like in any top. The cross is in front, purl side facing out. Turn it either way to get a different color blend and see what works best for you.
**Neck warmer: put the wrap on your neck, and pull into a figure 8. Put the second loop over your neck for a double cowl.
***Ear warmer/hat: reach back, grab an edge and pull it up to cover your head and ears so that one loop stays down to warm your neck.
51cm (20″) wide and 81 – 100cm (32″- 39.5″) top + bottom around will fit most everyone
